Awarded to a registered participant who experiences genuine tough luck on the trail but who rises above it in true Gold Rush Trail spirit.

The Red Lantern Award:

This is not a “last place” trophy. In the tradition of all dog sled events, the lantern is lit at the beginning of the journey and it is not extinguished until the last registered participant is safely home, guided by the light burning in the lantern.

The Musher’s Sports Award:

This award focuses on preserving the very special traditional skills and resourcefulness that ensure survival in the winter wilderness.  Awarded to the winning team.
